In an interview with the Daily Beast, John Travolta made his first public comments over a lawsuit he's facing from his former pilot Douglas Gotterba, who alleges he was in a relationship with the star. When asked 'what's the deal with that?' Travolta replied "This is every celebrity’s Achilles heel. It’s just about people wanting money. That’s all."

"I don’t care that much about it. Other people may attack it back more than I do, but I let all the media stuff go a long time ago because I can’t control it."

When asked whether he found the consistent allegations against him offensive he said yes, when he was dealing with the death of his son—who died from a seizure in the Bahamas in 2009—"I felt like that was the lowest I’d ever felt. Sex stuff is always going to be interesting to somebody, but you stay away from family. You really should. With that, I always felt like the media—not all of the media, but parts of it—went too low there."

Gotterba alleges that him and the actor were in a relationship while the pilot worked for Travolta's aircraft company Alto. When Gotterba first brought out his story, Travolta's attorney issued cease-and-desist letters, siting the termination agreement Gotterba signed on leaving Alto, containing a confidentiality clause. Gotterba says the agreement shown by Travolta's attorney is an earlier version of the agreement he did sign—which did not include the confidentiality clause—and is now challenging the validity of the agreements in court in California.

Although Travolta hasn't directly addressed the allegations, this is the first time he's publicly acknowledged the case against him and Gotterba's claims.
