The appearance of a photo showing male students at a Long Island, N.Y. high school apparently making fun of rape has triggered an administrative investigation.

The Smoking Gun reports that the photo was taken on Sep. 18 on Commack High School's athletic field. The image features five teenage boys, each wearing a shirt featuring a letter that, when placed in a certain order, spells "Rape?" A second picture features a sixth teen, who lays on the ground with his hands tied, playing what appears to be the role of a victim.

According to the Smoking Gun, school administration has denounced the photos and promised a thorough probe into the incident:

In a statement, school officials said that the students “showed an inexcusable lack of judgment,” adding that they have launched a “comprehensive investigation to determine the full scope of this matter and whether or not this was an isolated incident.”
