While the rumors of who is involved in Season 2 of True Detective continue to swirl, we now at least know when it will begin shooting and when it will air.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, HBO Director of Programming Michael Lombardo said the next steps are coming soon. “We’re going to start shooting in September for it to air next summer...[It has] different characters, a different setting. It’s set in California, all of California. There are three cops. One of the characters is female. I think that’s probably all I’m allowed to say. We’ll probably be announcing casting soon.”

Lombardo also noted that three or four directors would be working with writer, creator, and noted leather jacket enthusiast Nic Pizzolatto rather than the one (Cary Fukunaga) that they had last season.

So now we know what the show is about, who is working on it, and when it will air. Great. Can they please, for the love of all that is holy, just name the cast already? The world has been plenty patient.
