Yes, we live in a world where Scarlett Johansson is a legitimate action star. Yes, that sentence confuses us. No, we don’t have even the slightest problem with it.
Unfortunately, her runaway success as Black Widow in Iron Man 2, The Avengers, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier—as well as her lead role in the hit action movie Lucy—does not mean that ScarJo is going to get her own Black Widow movie anytime soon. What makes this fact particularly astounding is that not only does a script exist, but it was penned by one of today's hottest writers and Marvel is just sitting around doing nothing about it.
Nicole Perlman, writer of Guardians of the Galaxy, confirmed as much on Twitter:
Hey folks, before rumors get out of hand: I wrote a treatment for Black Widow in 2010/2011, but I am not actively developing it right now.

Also I can't speak for how long it will be until we get a Black Widow movie. I hope soon, but I know that Marvel has a lot on their plates.

Marvel, ever the planners, have the next 14 years all mapped out on a wall in president Kevin Feige’s office. Because why react to what the world wants, when you can just go with tunnel vision for over a decade? It seems like we may seriously have to wait at least 14 years to see Scarlett get her own movie. Being totally honest here, Black Widow is more interesting than pretty much any of the other Avengers, save possibly for Iron Man.
Come on, Marvel. Do the right thing. You can't possibly say that two hours of scenes like this wouldn't kill it at the box office:
1.
2.
