The trailer for the Martin Scorcese-produced Revenge of the Green Dragons looks completely bad ass. Or does it look ridiculous?

I'm not totally sure, but it's probably some combination of the two.

On one hand you've got a bunch of Chinatown gangsters running shit in Reagan-era NYC: bad ass. Then there's dialogue like, "There's a storm coming detective, and I don't know of any umbrella that's gonna keep this city dry," : ridiculous.

Either way, we're intrigued.

The movie is co-directed by Andrew Lau, who made Internal Affairs, the film Scorese reworked into The Departed, and stars Ray Liotta and newcomers Justin Chon and Kevin Wu.

It's based on this New Yorker story about Asian-American gang life in New York in the '80s and '90s, which is definiely worth a read if you have the time (and a subscription).

The movie is going to screen in the Special Presentation section at the Toronto International Film Festival, but we're still waiting on a release date.
