If further proof was need that mobile platforms are a viable venue for full-length console comparable gaming experiences, than last year's XCOM: Enemy Unknown should have provided all the evidence needed.

If you happened to be one of the people that couldn't part with the initial asking price of $19.99, you missed out. The game lent itself beautifully to iOS and the user interface for XCOM was elegant in its simplicity and control. This morning 2K Games has announced that another one of their seminal titles is being ported to mobile platforms this summer. The magnificent BioShock will be coming to newer devices- iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad 4, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C or iPhone 5-at some point this summer. If for some unforgiveable reason you never got around to playing one of the most brilliantly compelling games of the Xbox 360/PS3 generation, we forgive you, but just barely. BioShock is routinely pointed to as watershed moment in gaming thanks primarily to the narrative architecture of Ken Levine and the now iconic art design of the underwater city of Rapture.

Details are lean at the moment, but 2K Games has revealed that the game will be dropping "sometime this summer" and will be priced in the "premium" range, so you should expect anywhere between $9.99-$29.99. This summer is already looking crowded as the beautifully designed tactical combat Banner Saga is heading to iOS and Hearthstone is only part way through its first single-player campaign, Curse of Naxxramas. This is huge news from 2K and we'll have more as the story develops.
