Like a swirling hurricane of hammerheads munching on an unsuspecting subway rider, television viewers devoured the hell out of the Sharknado sequel last night.

An average of 3.9 million people were watching Sharknado 2: The Second One during its premiere on Syfy, well more than double the 1.4 million viewers who checked out the original back in 2013, USA Today reports.

That makes it the most-watched original movie in SyFy's history. Take that, Sharktopus! In some demographics it even beat out network shows such as Fox's So You Think You Can Dance

SyFy is also calling it the "most social movie on TV ever," tallying 531,000 tweets about it Wednesday night that were seen by 5.5 million people, according to Nielsen.

Either way, Sharknado 3, was already announced.
