Scarlett Johansson's thriller Lucy hit theaters yesterday alongside Dwayne Johnson in Hercules. Both are ahead of box office projections, though Lucy beat Hercules by about $6 million. Lucy looks like it will reach $45 million this weekend—$10 million ahead of expectations. It's been getting mixed reviews, but apparently people will see Johansson in just about anything. It had a $40 million budget, so profitability shouldn't be a problem.
Hercules looks like it will make around $30 million, which is $5 million more than original projections. However, its budget was $100 million. Yikes.
