Don’t let his goofy persona or seemingly affable demeanor fool you: Jimmy Fallon is mean.
Remember those videos your friends used to send you? The ones where they’d tell you to turn up the volume really loud, then all of a sudden would be some bloody clown and a piercing scream? Well, Fallon apparently does.
Last night on The Tonight Show, he brought the old prank back with a little help from the 50 Shades of Grey trailer. Ostensibly gauging their reaction to the racy material, Fallon filmed three of The Roots watching the trailer while wearing headphones. He then “sent in the clowns,” as it were, absolutely terrifying all of them.
The Roots seem really nice. Why would he do this to them? What did they do to deserve it?
OK, fine. It’s hilarious watching them recoil to the degree that one Root nearly goes flying off the couch. But seriously, this better not happen to us.
