Benedict Cumberbatch as a troubled genius who ruffles some feathers? We’ve seen Sherlock, so we know this is going to work just fine.

The debut trailer for The Imitation Game has just dropped, and in it we get to see Cumberbatch is all his intelligent glory as Alan Turing, a mathematician and scientist who worked as a codebreakers during World War II. The tension of the trailer underscores the high stakes of Cumberbatch’s work, as the Germans continue to bombard London and kill civilians while he attempts to decipher their messages.

The movie also stars Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, and Mark Strong, and in the trailer we even get a quick appearance from newly-unemployed Charles Dance (RIP Tywin Lannister). Fortunately, he is not sitting on a toilet.

The film is slated to debut at the London Film Festival on October8, nationwide in the UK on November 14, and hits the U.S. on November 21.
