On Tuesday, July 1, Complex and Miller Fortune presented “A Night of Fortune,” an intimate evening with one of hip-hop’s all-time greats, Common, in which he previewed his new album, Nobody’s Smiling at Chicago nightclub, Untitled. Guests, who were lined up around the block to get inside the exclusive event, enjoyed Miller Fortune and sets from DJ Jermaine and DJ Timbuck2. From there, host Ryan Fest led an informal interview centered on Common’s personal story—his growth as an artist, the genesis of his latest collection of songs, his collaboration with producer No I.D., and where he sees his career headed next.
