Everyone (including us) has been speculating about season two of True Detective ever since HBO announced it would be a new cast and a new plot line. The Wrap reports that the two leads will be one male and one female; previous guesses had two women taking over for Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto said in an interview earlier this year that he was working with three leads. Some reports name Jessica Chastain as the female lead, but casting news has been incredibly hard to come by. Just remember: time is a flat circle.
