"Sonic the Hedgehog" Is Heading to the Big Screen

Move over Solid Snake and Sam Fisher, because it was just announced that Sonic the Hedgehog is the latest video game mascot to get the big screen treatment. In a press release from Sony (via Super Hero Hype), it was revealed that the Sonic the Hedgehog movie will be a live-action/CGI hybrid that places the legendary video game character alongside his famous supporting cast, including Dr. Eggman. Hannah Minghella, Columbia Pictures’ president of Production, said:

The movie will be written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux, and produced by Neal H. Moritz. No director or cast has been announced as of yet. But after two decades in the spotlight and more than 140 million games sold, Sonic is way past due for a shot at the big screen.
