The shooting at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Ore. on Tuesday was at least the 37th to happen on school grounds this year, and the 74th since the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. in December 2012. Keep in mind that 2014 isn't even half over yet.
The Washington Post shared the map above, which shows where each of the 74 shootings have taken place across the country. The blue markers represent incidents from this year, while the red markers denote shootings that happened in 2013.
This puts the frequency of these happenings into perspective, and, frankly, it's terrifying.
