More than a gimmick, the first Korg synthesizer for Nintendo dropped in 2008 with the DS-10. The emulator was ahead of smartphone ports and must touchscreen music apps. It is a powerful, cheap music tool that was fun as well.

Now Korg is upgrading to the Nintendo 3DS with a 3D, “in your face,” oscilloscope and more power than its predecessors. The dual-screen allows for live manipulation with the bottom screen.

Korg's DSN-12 drops in September. Plug it in for a live performance or just zone out to the waveform busting out of the screen. Or enjoy your own one person subway rave.
