HBO is well-known for their smash-cutting promos that stimulate a viewer’s excitement but do absolutely nothing to reveal plot. They’re back at it again with this debut trailer for the fifth and final season of Boardwalk Empire, which premieres this September.
It’s likely prophetic for the tone of the entire season that the two things that stand out most are the tagline “All Empires Fall,” and the many solo shots of Steve Buscemi, who says at the end of the teaser that “the trick is to stay alive long enough to cash out.”
Basically, a lot of people are going to die, and Nucky is going to be all stressed out.
Obviously, this will not be the last glimpse into this final season that we’ll receive. But, for now, this will have to be enough to get you excited for September.
