50 Cent's Show "Power" Renewed by Starz for a Second Season

Starz has already renewed 50 Cent's show "Power" even though its premiere episode aired just five days ago.

Despite debuting last Friday to good-but-not-great ratings, Power has already been picked up for a second season by Starz.

The show—executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson among others—stars Omari Hardwick as James “Ghost” St. Patrick, a former drug lord who wants to leave his old life behind. As you might imagine, this decision gets complicated rather quickly.

In a statement, 50 Cent said:

Power is a project extremely close to my heart and working with Chris Albrecht, Carmi Zlotnik and the Starz team has been the perfect fit for this. Viewers may be loving the start of Season 1 now, but Season 2 will blow them away.”

The decision to pick the show up for a second season is actually a very common one for Starz; Boss, Magic City, Spartacus, and Black Sails all received orders for a second season before even a single episode of theirs had hit the airwaves. So maybe it’s actually a bad sign they had to see one on TV first?

Then again, it seems like 50 Cent is killingit with everything he does these days, so we trust him implicitly at this point.
