"Star Citizen" Dogfighting Mode To Launch May 29

Wing Commander spiritual successor Star Citizen is getting closer to its full release, as creator Chris Roberts announced this week that the all backers to the game's $43 million crowdfunding campaign will get access to Arena Commander, Star Citizen's single-player dogfighting mode, staring May 29.

At launch, players will have acecss to two modes: free flight and vanduul swarm, a horde mode for the Star Citizen universe. A lot more additions are coming at a later, as-of-yet unannounced date, including AI co-op ships, larger spacecraft and other game modes. As it's both a single-player experience and an MMO – i.e., a very complicated game, Star Citizen has no formal release date yet, but Robert and his teams have been updating with progress on this very impressive-looking space sim regularly via the game's official website.
