Smartwatches, so far, have only been able to work when they were linked to a user's smartphone. Samsung is setting out to change that.

The company is reportedly working on a smartwatch that will have its own data connection, and will be able to make its own phone calls and receive information. The device will be unveiled by the end of the year, and will come equipped with a heart rate monitor, camera, and GPS. But, while this will free the smartwatch from the smartphone, it also means that the device may require its own SIM card, and will be an extra bill at the end of the month that user's will have to pay. We doubt that smartwatch use has caught on so much that people will feel this is necessary. But we'll find out soon enough.
