TIME Releases Their "2014 TIME 100" List

What pop culture stars made the TIME 100 list?

TIME has released their 2014TIME 100 list, which honors “the 100 most influential people in the world.”

Unsurprisingly, many figures from television and film have made the cut, with TIME citing their contributions to both the world and to their profession as reasons for their inclusion. To properly frame what each person means to pop culture, they asked one of their peers to write a (glowing) tribute, and several of these descriptions contained a number of interesting anecdotes and assessments.

Among the honorees were Amy Adams, about whom Emily Blunt said:

“[Adams] is spooky-good at her job. There’s a certain mystique about Amy that helps the audience go with her on this chameleon of a career, from Enchanted to The Fighter to American Hustle. And I don’t think she’s discovered her full bag of tricks even yet.”

Another one of the 100, Kerry Washington, was captured in words by Valerie Jarret, a senior advisor to President Obama. Jarret said of the woman known best as Olivia Pope:

“Kerry Washington has used her grace and vibrant magnetism to transcend age, race and gender, and to provide a new mainstream media lens through which to view modern womanhood and professional excellence.”

While lists like this one are meant to provoke discussion, it’s clear from their peers' comments that the pop culture figures included are some of the most highly regarded worldwide. Here’s a list of the TV and film stars who made the list, and for the full 100 you can visit Time.com:
