Samsung will have yet another smartphone and smartwatch launch this year, in comparison to last year, though, things will be slightly different in terms of what's inside.
Instead of running Tizen, Samsung's own OS, the company's new smartwatch will run Android Wear, Google's new OS made specifically for wearables — which other companies are already using with impressive results. Android Wear debuted only a few weeks ago, right around the time that Samsung released the Gear 2 and Gear Fit smartwatches. The original Galaxy Gear smartwatch ran Android, but was hit with bad reviews after many deemed it sluggish.
This isn't the end for Tizen, though. Samsung plans to release a high-end Tizen smartphone by June, with the company eyeing emerging markets. Expect the smartwatch by the end of 2014.
