Microsoft May Create Shows Based on Gears of War, Forza, Fable

Microsoft is open to producing shows based on the company's video games and intellectual property, Microsoft's president of entertainment and digital media Nancy Tellem said in an interview with Bloomberg.

"Well, I must say; and this was a wonderful discovery for me when I arrived, is that the rich amount of IP that Microsoft owns," Tellem said. "Whether it's from a game like Fable or Age of Empires or Gears of War or Forza, ... or Halo. These are the things that frankly if we weren't attached to Microsoft everyone would yearn to have. This is an amazing platform to work from."

Tellem declined to comment on the progress of Stephen Spielberg's Halo project.

Towards the end of 2013, Tellem suggested that the first shows from Xbox Entertainment Studios would show up in the first or second quarter of 2014.

Tellem formerly worked at CBS and was hired by Microsoft in 2012 to head up the entertainment division.

Microsoft is currently working on a documentary about the burial of the Atari 2600 E.T. video game.
