Clint Eastwood Gets Musical in the First Trailer for "Jersey Boys"

Take a look at the first trailer for Clint Eastwood’s “Jersey Boys.”

Clint Eastwood has spent the majority of his directing career focused on dark dramas with tortured characters, but his upcoming movie is an unlikely adaptation of the hit musical Jersey Boys. Set in the early 1960s, the story revolves around the formation, rise, and eventual breakup of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. In the debut trailer for the movie, it’s established just how closely Eastwood stuck to the original material, even going as far as to keep the constant breaking of the fourth wall that is present in the play.

This brief trailer nails the look, tone, and thick accents that made the play such a hit, and it’s a credit to Eastwood that he is able to pull all of this off. From what is shown in the trailer, Eastwood has impressively maintained what works on the stage and used his skill as a director to bring it to the medium of film.

Jersey Boys stars John Lloyd Young, Erich Bergen, Vincent Piazza, and Michael Lomenda, and it will hit theaters on June 20, 2014.
