Television is a marathon, not a sprint, but sometimes writers feel they have to take a short cut to the finish line. It's easy to forget how hard it is to juggle all of the aspects of television production and form them into a seamless TV show. When shows fall short, however, we are quickly reminded of how difficult that balancing act can be.

Sometimes TV series make choices that defy logic and lack an explanation. Characters can disappear into thin air. The geography of the world can change in an instant. Longstanding rules of a show can be forgotten or contradicted.
