Microsoft to make perk "more true," does that mean better?

Microsoft has said that it will improve the Games with Gold program for Xbox 360 users to be “more true” to what gamers might expect from the service.

Currently, Xbox Live Gold Subscribers receive two games per month to download and keep forever. The problem so far is gamers have complained about the quality of the titles offered. The games are typically years old and budget titles to boot. This especially stings when compared to Sony's similar program, PlayStation Plus, where subscribers can play much newer and top-selling games for as long as you keep your subscription up.

Microsoft executive Phil Spencer game an interview with Polygon this weekend and gave some broad outlines of the future. "I think you'll see at least something that feels, at least, more true to what I think Games with Gold should look like with the constraints that are there."

As far as the differences between Microsoft and Sony's free subscription games Spencer says that the big difference in is ownership. "...differences between the other system we get compared to, is the fact that with Games with Gold, you get to keep that game, regardless of whether you continue to subscribe."

As of now the Xbox One is not included in the Games with Gold program but Microsoft says its going to announce a similar system to begin soon.

What do you think? Would you rather play new games that could expire with your membership in Xbox Live Gold? Or a mix of budget and classics that seems to be the theme of Games with Gold so far, but keep them forever?
