Next "Call of Duty" is From the Creators of "Dead Space"

New developer joins the COD factory

Activision, the publisher of the Call of Duty series as announced a dramatic change to it's yearly released game by adding a new studio to the line-up. Sledgehammer studios, responsible for the Dead Space games and still home to the creators of that series, will form a holy trinity with Treyarch and Infinity Ward.

The move to create a three-year development cycle for each new Call of Duty game seems to be in response to the top selling yet critically pummeled Call of Duty: Ghosts.

This year's Call of Duty will be “perhaps the best Call of Duty game ever created” says Activision president Bobby Kotick. Activision executive Dennis Durkin added that it was “highly innovative” but wouldn't elaborate.

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg explained that switching to the three-year development cycle would “ensure even greater levels of innovation and creative excellence for each Call of Duty title.”

"There are several advantages of doing this," he continued. "The first is, of course quality. This will give our designers more time to envision and to innovate for each title. Simultaneously it will give our content creators more focus on DLC and micro DLC...”

"Finally, it will give our teams more time to polish, helping to ensure that we delivered the best possible experience to our fans each and every time."

So it looks like the maker of Call of Duty got the message. Despite selling well and maintaining a great multiplayer experience, Call of Duty: Ghosts let us down with a cheesy, annoying, follow-fest story. Hopefully this means great thing for the series in 2014.
