Just like many other Saturday Night Live cast members, Chris Farley got his start at the legendary Second CityImprov theatre in Chicago. Recently, The Second City posted an old VHS recording of Farley's legendary "Motivational Speaker" aka "DOWN BY THE RIVER!" sketch. The recording takes place on July 26, 1990, about three years before the skit aired on SNL—so this is kind of like the very first incarnation of it.

In this version of the sketch, Tim Meadows and Saul Goodman Bob Odenkirk replace David Spade and Phil Hartman, respectively. It's just as funny, too.

Watch the hilarious video above, and then head over here to check out the skit that ended up airing on SNL.
