After 4 million Snapchat users had their username and phone number leaked, the company has finally issued an apology of sorts, releasing a new update that fixes what allowed the leak to happen.
In a blog post this morning, Snapchat announced that Android and iOS users could download an update for the app that allows them to opt-out of the "Find Friends" feature, which links a user's phone number to their username. The post also includes the first apology for the data leak, though it's a weak one at best (you can read in the time that it takes a Snapchat picture to delete). This is a moment Snapchat hopes will help put this disaster behind them, at least they took action sooner rather than later.
