While yogurt shops multiply at terrifying, perplexing rates, NYC's classic establishments melt away. With Greenwich Village's Grey's Papaya recently being taken from us, our nostalgia level for old New York has been percolating to a ragey simmer. Where have all of Gotham's landmarks gone, and more importantly, what will replace them? HOW MANY MORE STARBUCKS, CONDOS, AND SOFT SERVE FRO-YO SPOTS CAN WE STAND?

Photographer Grégoire Alessandrini's charming photos of '90s diners chronicle a version of NYC we can hardly recognize. Peruse them knowing you may never enjoy your home fries, tiny glasses of orange juice, and mediocre pies in these wonderful-looking places again.
