The beauty of procedurally generated games is that as you explore, the world grows with you. Kurt J. Mac wants to reach the end of one.
In an interview with The New Yorker, Mac discussed his journey - which has taken three years so far - to reach the end of Minecraft's universe. His goal is to reach the "Far Lands," an area where the code warps and breaks. He has a long way to go, but he's already seeing the effects:
“I’ve started to experience some of the effects of travelling so far from spawn,” Mac said in the piece. “Items and entities are somewhat disjointed from the terrain around them, causing a jitter as I walk.”
Mac has been putting his travels on YouTube and teamed with the Child's Play charity to raise money for hospitalized children.
