How many critically acclaimed triple-A games did you play last year? Did these take up more than 80 or 90 percent of your gaming time? If the answer is yes, maybe you should be playing more terrible, half-baked bargain bin type games.
Over at GamesRadar, they've put together a great defense of at the very least occasionally partaking of a game that land somewhere between oddly buggy and weird (like, say, Neverdead) to downright broken (a la Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage).
Among their reasons: terrible games can make you appreciate good design (and give much needed respite from triple-A fatigue). Bad games can also be unintentionally hilarious or have amusing gameplay in ways the developers never intended, and can offer totally bizarre, offbeat experiences you wouldn't expect (and moreover would probably never know about – especially weird Japanese games).
As someone that's recently enjoyed going back to Acclaim's horrible South Park games on the PS One (they're hideous!), this is the kind of argument I can absolutely get behind.
