UPDATE: GameStop Italy told Joystiq that the delisting was a mistake. Why didn't Ubisoft come out and say that?

Things aren't looking good for the Wii U version of Ubisoft's Watch Dogs, as GameStop is canceling pre-orders for that version of the game.

Friday morning, Italian blog Wiitalia said that the game had been removed from Italian GameStop databases.

Kotaku asked Ubisoft about it, but a spokesperson declined to comment, leaving gamers wondering if a cancellation or further delay of the Wii U version of the game is imminent.

What makes matters more dire is the fact that what Kotaku calls a "reliable" source says GameStops in the U.S. are also canceling pre-orders for the Wii U version of the game, though it's still up on GameStop's U.S. website.

Watch Dogs has been delayed once already, and will be coming out on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

The open-world title about a hacker in Chicago first showed at E3 2012, impressing audiences with its graphics. It was delayed from November 2013 to spring 2014 in October of last year.
