The purpose of the work computer is to do work, not look at porn. A University of Iowa professor is in hot water after lying and telling police that his school-issued laptop was stolen because he didn't want anyone to find out that he had downloaded porn onto it.
Rather than just delete the smut from his computer like a sensible person, music professor Brent Sandy told police that it was stolen from his office. The laptop's IP address was easily traced back to Sandy's home, where authorities found it—along with a tiny amount of marijuana and a pipe.
Sandy was charged with third-degree theft, making a false report and possession of a controlled substance. All that wasted effort to hide the porn and now everyone knows. How embarrassing.
