After disappointments like Battleship and Hancock, it's easy to see why most people initially wrote off director Peter Berg's new film Lone Survivor when it was first announced. With a cast led by Mark Wahlberg and Erica Bana, and some of Hollywood's hottest young actors filling out the supporting roles (Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch), it wasn't long before critics quickly dismissed it as a recycled war movie.

Last month, Lone Survivor premiered at the AFI Fest and surprisingly, it was met with an extremely positive reception. Now, in the few weeks leading up to its limited December 27th theatrical release (before expanding on January 10), the film is picking up steam and generating some awards buzz.

To get people talking even more, Universal held a red carpet premiere earlier this month at the Ziegfeld Theatre, in New York City. Our friends over at We Got This Covered were there to get capture some exclusive coverage. Speaking with Mark Wahlberg, Eric Bana, Alexander Ludwig, and several others, they got the scoop on why everyone's buzzing about Lone Survivor and just what audiences can expect.

Check it all out in the video above and be sure to catch the film when it opens on December 27.
