In Italy, "12 Years a Slave" Is More Like "12 Years a Slave Owner"

As far as bad movie posters go, this has to be one of the worst. What you are seeing above is reportedly the Italian poster for 12 Years a Slave, which actually stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as a man sold into slavery during the mid-1800s. You'd never know that, however, looking at this poster, which suggests instead that Brad Pitt—who portrays a supporting character—is the star of the film. Ugh.

Here are a few more shots, courtesy of Fanatical About Cinema's Flickr account—according to Buzzfeed, Fanatical About Cinema is actually the local marketing company who put the posters together. Note, the second poster featuring star Michael Fassbender at front and center, while Ejiofor's image is minimized to the corner:

So, in summation, they basically sacrificed the entire point of the film, and instead advertised two of the film's more notable stars in hopes of bringing in more ticket sales. If there ever was an appropriate time to use this GIF, it's now:
