There May Be A Third "X-Files" Movie

Mulder and Scully are both down.

It's been five years since David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson last played Agents Mulder and Scully, in the standalone X-Files film I Want to Believe. Most fans figured that, the second film following the events of the classic sci-fi series, would be the end of their journey. But speaking at New York's Paley Center for Media this weekend, both stars claimed they'd be down for another adventure. In fact, Duchovny even took it a step further, to say creator and mastermind Chris Carter is interested as well, leaving it up to Twentieth Century Fox to give the official greenlight.

Duchovny is currently getting steady work leading Showtime's Californication into its seventh season, while Anderson recurs on NBC's Hannibal and will be a series regular on the network's new series Crisis, debuting mid-season, so it appears their interest is out of pure love for the universe and the characters. I Want to Believe, however, received mixed reviews at best. Should the trio leave the franchise alone or try and redeem it with a third and final film?
