Yesterday, New York City announced the additional of even more free Wi-Fi hotspots in all five boroughs, though most of them will be in Brooklyn and Manhattan. In a statement, Mayor Michael Bloomberg explained that the move was about staying competitive.

"If New York City is going remain competitive in the global economy, we must find ways to support the entrepreneurs who are driving technological advances and creating jobs," he said. "With these new initiatives, we are making targeted investments to improve our city’s wireless infrastructure and expand Internet access."

In other words, the city is just flexin'. Furthermore, NYC also launched WiredNYC, which is designed to "[evauluate] the broadband connectivity and infrastructure of office buildings" so businesses can learn more about the building's connectivity. But back to those new free Wi-Fi hotspots:
