The fact that it's coming to America at all is nothing short of astonishing.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is about as obscure as manga and anime gets, and it was strange enough the Capcom felt the property worthy to revive (to the extent they could) in the HD re-release of the fighting game of the same name last year.

Now Namco-Bandai and Asura’s Wrath developer CyberConnect2 are bringing JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle to the states, and they may be dropping the free-to-play aspect of its Japanese release.

For the game’s native release, players were given a finite supply of items that were used up whenever you entered a battle (items that could be either be recharged over or fully restocked through in-game microstranscations).

As you might expect, Japanese players didn’t like this too much, so now the developers are vowing to take a look at the game’s various systems in advance of its North American launch.

It’s up in the air whether or not this means Namco’s going to drop the microtransaction nonsense entirely or just curb it back somehow, but given players’ general distaste for mandatory free-to-play elements in otherwise “normal” console games – Dead Space 3 being probably the most egregious recent example – we’d be surprised if JoJo makes its second Western debut with this particular element still intact.
