Attention, pregnant women: You might want to put the chicken wings down

PETA raised eyebrows—prior to the National Buffalo Wing Festival, nonetheless—by claiming that eating chicken parts (wings, specifically) during pregnancy could shrink your son's penis. PETA's Lindsay Rajt sent festival founder Drew Cerza a letter with the alleged "discovery":

The latest scientific evidence shows that the sons of pregnant women who consume chicken are more likely to have smaller penises because of a chemical found in the birds’ flesh.

Is this a legitimate claim? Per Women's Health, it's a reach:

None

The magazine adds that phthalates can be found in spices and plastic containers, i.e. random things you encounter everyday. You can avoid them by avoiding processed foods and plastic containers. So breathe easy, pregnant women. Your sons won't hate you forever if you enjoy wings while he's in the womb.
