For a Change, Mel Gibson Argues With Cops Without Resorting to Anti-Semitism

He believed they were harassing him.

A little over seven years after originally being arrested for drunk driving on the PCH in Malibu, Mel Gibson has ran into trouble with the cops on the Pacific Coast Highway again, this time because he felt as if cops were "harassing" him. The good news, however, is that this time Gibson was reportedly sober, and he was able to refrain from making any anti-Semitic remarks—so it's an improvement.

Still dumb, though.

According to TMZ, Gibson was stopped on the PCH this morning around 1 AM this morning when he and a female passenger drove up to a DUI checkpoint in the road. It all began pretty routinely—Gibson was asked if he'd been drinking, and he truthfully responded that he hadn't been.

He was then asked for his license, and when he said he didn't have it on him, he was told to go through a secondary checkpoint, which isn't that crazy of a request. Gibson seemed to think it was, however, and immediately accused the cops of harassing him because he's Mel Gibson: He reportedly lost his temper, and began yelling at the cops, "Why are you harassing me?" When asked why he was yelling, Gibson responded, "I have had problems with you Lost Hills [Malibu] deputies in the past." Yes, Mel, by all means—let's blame your 2006 drunk driving and anti-Semitic rant on the cops

Gibson was eventually let off with a warning before he could launch into any rants about Jews or Malibu cops. Progress.
