The trailer for Peter Berg's new film Lone Survivor was just released, and good news: Judging the by the 2 and a half minute spot, the film is going to be much more Friday Night Lights than Battleship

Starring Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster, Eric Bana, and Emile Hirsch, Lone Survivor is based on the 2007 book of the same name by Marcus Luttrell, which is a firsthand account of the mid-2005 failed "Operation Red Wings" that took place in Afghanistan. Reader's Digest version: The film is going to tell the story of four Navy SEALs who, when sent out on a mission to neutralize a dangerous Taliban operative, only to find themselves ambushed by hundreds of Taliban soldiers in the Hindu Kush mountains of the Kunar province.

The trailer itself features of cover of "Heroes" by Peter Gabriel, which makes it all seem very heartwarming and all. Also, can we talk about Mark Wahlberg's beard? We're sure this isn't the point of the movie, but it's something to be discussed, surely. It's hard to even recognize him!

Lone Survivor is set to be released in select cities on December 27, 2013, and nationwide on January 10, 2014.
