Big news for Arrested Development fans: We might be finally getting that much talked-about movie sooner than we all thought. According to Rolling Stone, series creator Mitch Hurwitz revealed that he's currently making progress on the project, and that it's looking more and more like it's going to happen.

"I'm working on the movie right now," Hurwitz revealed. "I can't get into much more detail because I don't want to scare anybody off. I don't want to be presumptuous about it. I don't own the property outright – it's a 20th Century Fox property. But everybody seems really into it and really eager to make a movie."

He stresses that there's no green-light yet—"I'm hoping it happens as soon as possible...but I want to be very careful about not putting out false information,"—but it seems fairly likely when you consider the amount of press and general attention Netflix's season four garnered before the premiere. Initial reviews may have been disappointing, but media attention (and presumably viewing numbers) were still satisfactory.

Plus, a movie might not lack the same things that season four did if everyone was able to be on set together—there wasn't enough time to get everyone together for the six months it took to film the entire season, so the format was much different than the show ever was (character-centric episodes), and creativity suffered. This wouldn't happen with a film. "I was really aware that we were trying to do something that not only had nobody done before, but we didn't really tell anybody what were going to do...that is, we made an eight-and-a-half-hour show. So nobody had any framework to watch it from."

No word yet on when we should expect a film, but judging from Hurwitz's comments, it at the very least won't be another seven years.

Hopefully.
