Late last night, a sinkhole spanning 60 feet in width formed beneath a central Florida resort, forcing guests to flee as one of the buildings collapsed and another was swallowed by the ground. Located in Clermont, the Summer Bay Resort is roughly 10 miles from Walt Disney World. Just before the building collapsed, guests called for help after hearing strange noises and breaking windows; all 35 people inside were evacuated.

A large portion of one building was devoured by a 15-foot crater. The evacuation began around 10:30 p.m., and several guests were forced to believe their belongings behind. According to resort president Paul Caldwell, other rooms will be available to every guest misplaced by the sinkhole.

This isn't Florida's first run-in with a sinkhole, either. Thankfully, all guests escaped without injury.
