We've been high on The Spectacular Now for months now, ever since we saw it at SXSW, so we're stoked to see that a trailer is finally out for the young adult flick. Directed by James Ponsoldt and picked up by A24, the film's been generating critical acclaim ever since it premiered at Sundance earlier this year.
For those who haven't read our review, The Spectacular Now tells the story of Sutter Keely (played to perfection by Miles Teller) a high school senior who hides his hopelessness behind the facade of being the class clown. Enter: Aimee Finicky, a sci-fi nerd who gives Sutter a surge of inspiration he's never experienced before. Shailene Woodley's performance is so charming and endearing that it's impossible not to feel the urge to look into your own damned soul and want to clean up your act.
It's been said a million times before, but it's worth emphasizing now that the general public has some tangible proof of its greatness: The Spectacular Now is a rare gem of a coming-of-age movie that would be a shame to miss.
