Nicolas Winding Refn is going to be a busy man in the near future. According to The Playlist, his list of upcoming projects is getting impressively lengthy—not only will he have to soon work on promoting this new film with Ryan Gosling, Only God Forgives, but he's also got an upcoming sexual thriller starring Carey Mulligan called I Walk With The Dead, he's likely going to be directing a film adaptation of Button Man, he's working on a TV adaptation of Barbarella, and there's a comedy with Gosling in the works too. Now, it looks like he's got one more project on his plate: An adaptation of Alejandro Jodorowsky and Moebius' comic series, The Incal.

The original Incal series was first released in 1981 in French, and was made up of six parts. It's set in a dystopian future where humans reside in a galactic empire, and details a battle between humans and an alien race over a powerful light crystal called the Incal. Refn is close friends with author Jodorowsky.

As The Playlist points out, this isn't the first time an adaptation has been attempted: Animator Pascal Blais attempted one twice, once in the '80s, and once in 2011.

It's not clear on how Refn will be approaching the project, or if Ryan Gosling will be involved this one too—but we can only hope so.
