Elliot Morales, the man accused of killing Mark Carson after yelling homophobic comments and him a friend, allegedly showed little remorse when admitting the crime to the NYPD. Prosecutors say a laughing Morales told police "Yeah, I shot him in the head." The 32-year-old Carson was walking through Greenwich Village with a friend on Friday  night when Morales, 33, and two friends approached them saying while Morales saying "Look at the f******."

When Carson and his friend attempted to walk away, Morales followed them and asked Carson "Do you want to die here?" before shooting him once in the cheek. Morales' friends, who tried to stop him from following Carson, are cooperating with police in the investigation. Prior to the attack, police say Morales urinated in front of the Annisa bar and confronted a bartender with homophobic slurs. He then brandished a revolver, threatening to kill the bartender if he called for help.

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly says Carson's murder is clearly a hate crime. Morales has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and murder as a hate crime. A vigil was held for Carson on Saturday night with over 100 people to mourn his murder.
