Although violent crimes has decreased in New York City this year, Brooklyn was the city's most violent borough based off of last year's statistics. The NYPD's annual report revealed that over a third—36 percent, to be exact—of the city's 420 murders in 2012 occurred in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is the most populated borough, but it also hosts three of the most dangerous precincts in the city.
East New York's 75th Precinct is the city's worst, followed by The Bronx's 43rd Precinct. Not too far behind are the 73rd Precinct in Brownsville and the 67th Precinct in East Flatbush.
Let's hope for a kinder, gentler Brooklyn for the remainder of 2013.
