Although all three The Hobbit films were shot at once, Peter Jackson has just released the first footage from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
In the follow up to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) and company continue their quest to defeat the dragon, Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch). Gandalf (Ian McKellen) also has some “secret business to the south” involving a sword.
Gandalf is joined by Radagast the Brown (Sylvester McCoy) in the first clip. “Why am I here, Gandalf?” the simple wizard asks. “This is not a nice place to be.” “No, it is not,” Gandalf agrees. Radagast feels the impending danger: “These are dark spells, Gandalf. Old and full of hate.”
“It’s a little mystery that Gandalf is following in The Desolation of Smaug,” Jackson says. The Hobbit: The Desloation of Smaug hits theaters December 13.
UPDATE: Aaaand it's already been taken down. We'll put up a new video as soon as there is one!
