Looks like not only does Iran want to sue Hollywood over what they believe is defamatory portrayal in Argo - they want to sue Hollywood for every single film they believe shows the country in an unfavorable light.

According to Deadline, French lawyer Isabelle Coutant-Peyre - best known for being the wife and legal defense for Venezuelan-born terrorist Carlos the Jackal - traveled to Iran recently to speak with officials about the best angle to file a lawsuit initially just over Argo. After meetings, however, it seems she's now attempting to build up a case against other films that Iranian officials believe promote "Iranophobia," including 300, Not Without My Daughter, and The Wrestler

As previously reported, Iranian media denounced Argo upon its release, calling the film - which follows the story of the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis - "pro-CIA, anti-Iran propaganda." Plans to launch a lawsuit against the film arose during a private screening of the film by Iranian cultural officials and movie critics on Monday at a conference called "Hoax of Hollywood." It was held, as one attendee said, to "unify all cultural communities in Iran against the attacks of the west, particularly Hollywood."

Though it's unlikely a lawsuit would ever be able to be filed in the U.S., New York-based attorney Stuart Slotnick commented to Deadline that there's the possibility something could be brought to another country where the films received distribution.
