Fan's of 7-Eleven's Big Gulp can breathe easy, because the famous massive beverage is safe from the New York City soda ban. Earlier this week, Mayor Bloomberg asked Gov. Cuomo if the ban could extend to grocery stores. This includes 7-Elevens (they sell just enough groceries to duck city regulation), which are regulated by the state and outside of Bloomberg's reach.
Cuomo wasn't interested. Yesterday, he said it wasn't something the state was considering at the time, because he hadn't "really studied it." 7-Eleven and Big Gulps are safe for now, but restaurants and bodegas will not be able to sell sodas larger than 16 ounces beginning on March 12.
